We urge a NO vote on Unfair Prop 1

Then mail or put in ballot drop box by April 23!

The Lake Washington School District is asking voters to approve Proposition 1 on your ballot. If passed, this Proposition will contribute significantly higher property taxes for homeowners, renters and local businesses. We urge you to vote NO on this proposal.

We believe the district's current tax proposal spends too much and does not give proper local tax relief for the millions in new revenue coming to LWSD from the new State Fully Funding of Basic Education (McCleary Decision). The community does not realize that this is the largest tax impact (effective January 1, 2018). Most taxpayers did not see that increase until their 2018 tax bill arrived just AFTER this last levy election.

This Proposition fails to recognize that local homeowners and renters simply have limits on how many tax increases they can afford.  Renters will see the tax increases passed through in the form of rent increases.  We already have one of the highest rental rents in the country.

Local property taxes have been increasing steadily in 2018 and 2019 with substantial increases from the Sound Transit 3 property tax (yes, in addition to the ST3 sales tax increase and the ST3 vehicle license tab excise tax increase, there was also an ST3 property tax increase).  This does not take into account the increased King County storm water fees.

When your ballot arrives, Please vote NO to LWSD Proposition 1. Then mail or put in ballot drop box by April 23!

This Proposition is the wrong plan at the wrong time.
